Working toward US democracy

“Democracy is not something you believe in or hang your hat on, but something you do. You participate. If you stop doing it, democracy stumbles and falls. If you participate, the future is yours.”  – Abby Hoffman

Democracy has not succeeded in our country.  It falls constantly due to many factors … many are avoidable pitfallls skirted by greed & power.

i read the above quote when i began reading Devil’s Tango: How I learned the Fukishima Step by Step (a gift from mi prima).  i was reminded of why I keep putting energy into politics.

our system is inherently flawed and needs a rebuild.

there are plenty of people who would serve the people over profit, but the system is designed to keep others in.

Many have called for a revolutionary approach, and if we all combined our efforts we could succeed. Separately we will continue to get crumbs and mind-numbing b.s. paid with money from the pockets of the masses, not the 1% & their corporations.

How is this even potentially possible in a ‘straight-ticket’ e-voting state controlled by corporate greedheads and their lackeys?
